Luckily there are also games that will actually teach you new words (or at least their existence). One such puzzle game is Word Search from Melimots. A lightweight, simple and intuitive interface, no sounds whatsoever, perfect for our older users who appreciate crosswords and the like.
One big disadvantage of such a game is the language barrier it imposes. If you lack vocabulary then this type of games can prove to be extremely challenging. And this is where Word Search shines; there are lots of languages to choose from: American English, British English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese.
One thing that seems to be annoying is that you can only select the suggested words. If you find any other words on the board that were formed by accident, those are not considered words. This usually happens with small words: hat, cat, pet, top etc.
Being a free app we can surely expect a small add on the top but this is a minor inconvenience.
